The Parquet Table Update: Finally Found My Legs

If you read my original post about building my walnut parquet dining table (aka my “I want to be someone who can do hard things” era), you might remember that I finished the top… and then stuck it on very practical, very temporary legs.

They were fine. They held the table up...so I kind of moved on.
But the whole time, I had a specific base in mind that I was longing for— a hand-forged iron one that felt heavier, moodier, and more in line with what I imagined when I first started building the table.

And I finally bought it....and it finally arrived.

And wow.
It took me a minute to put together. Going against all of my instincts, I took the time to measure and even went out and bought the correct screws.
This is real growth for me as I just wanted to slap it on there as soon as the doorbell rang.
But instead I did it right. and I love it.

The walnut parquet top suddenly feels finished. The iron base adds weight and contrast in the best way — warm wood against dark metal. I'm really glad I went with the pewter finish too. It looks intentional now.

The table functioned perfectly well before. We ate at it. It held homework and groceries and everything in between. But swapping out the base completely changed the presence of the piece.
It's starting to feel like an adult's dining room!
Aint she a beaut? She’s done. For real this time.
